Dear Social
Worker,,
I want to share
you one the dilemma in my mind maybe six months ago about the social work.
Social work as evidence
base practice. This phrase I often hear from one of my........., who always says evidence
base, evidence base, social worker must be evidence based… I strongly agree with this statement. Social work must be
in accordance with the facts/evidence. Social work is a profession that is so
sincere in helping its clients.
Brodfor Shaefor
(2003, p68) says the social worker should practice social work. Social worker practice
within boundaries of the social worker profesion. Also Sheafor p70 says that
the social worker should maintain professional objectivity. Means that, the professional
adds a new dimension to the helping process by operating with a degree of
personal distance and neutrality. And many other expert opinion in accordance
with this statement. Social work ethics, gathering data in social work, social
work guidelines, etc.
so what the
problem ?
The big
question, if this statement is not made in everyday life, when I always hear
that, "we have to internalize the values of social work in our life evry
day as a good social worker". Whether
this is just a mere statement that you yourself can not do ? That’s the problem.
be a good
social worker, minimal as you say…
